Prospect Farms, in Lawrenceville, Georgia has one of the cutest sets for Easter Minis. This year, I booked a spot with them, in their greenhouse with Archie the bunny. He is the sweetest boy who happens to be the class pet at Buford Elementary School. He doesn’t kick away when kids pet him or pick him up. He’s the most kid friendly bunny I’ve ever seen. Prospect Farms had a bunny handler to assist me by repositioning Archie for the little kids who were too scared to touch him.
This is what the session looked like, this year. Prospect changes the set every year and I believe this year was my favorite. Who doesn’t appreciate potted plants and lots of greenery. Not to mention, being able to feed a carrot to Archie gave me Peter Rabbit vibes. Just incase any of my clients are scrap bookers, I take pictures of the whole set. I like to keep the memory of the entire area and not just the space we used. These images will always be delivered in your gallery, when you book with me. And don’t worry, these images do not count toward the number of images I promise to deliver. Nor do they count when you choose to upgrade your gallery. These are just filler images, I like to give clients. Not everyone will make use of these kind of images, unless you are really really a picture person, like me. You’re welcome.
This is my daughter Jenna. When I decided to get into photography, I was so excited with how many great photos I’d get of my family. Especially her, being a girl and loving to dress up. I knew it would be the closest version of Heaven I could experience on Earth. Buuuuuut, that’s not the case. She hates the camera. I’ve learned to carry candy with me and bribe her with it just to get the result of what you see on the left side but, unfortunately, what you see on the right is what I mostly end up with. She’s her own person and I can’t fight her on that but when she’s grown and embarrassed about these (which she won’t be) all I can say, is, “I worked with what you gave me.”
Archie’s bunny handler is also named Jenna. She’s part of the family at Prospect Farms. She stayed with all photographers to make sure Archie was enjoying every session. The sweetest people own this farm. If you haven’t experienced this place, yet and you live close to the area, you should go visit. They’ll give you a tour and even open their field to “moms with camera’s.” So even if you don’t use a photographer, you can still use their farm. Isn’t that wonderful?
She wasn’t much into holding Archie, this year, in fear of him peeing on her new dress. We’ve come to a compromisation, Jenna and I. She’s agreed to take part in a few mini sessions on two conditions: 1. She gets to approve the session and 2. She gets to pick out her outfit. As long as it fits the theme of the session, I’m choosing my battles with this kid. She is strong willed and normally doesn’t change her mind, once she knows what she likes and doesn’t like. And she does NOT like picture time. It’s not all bad. If anything, her styling choices will make me smile twenty years down the road. This girl can pile her jewelry on.
When you book with me, I start off with a group picture of the whole family. If we have one main area to sit at, I’ll rearrange you a few times, just for variety purposes, then I break the group up into smaller sections. If both parents are willing to dress up and let me take their photo, I love getting a photo of just them two. Once kids are born, couple photos go out the window. Why is that? After all the time it takes to prepare for the session and all of the work to coordinate the outfits, the parents need a moment for themselves.
My next “grouping” is to gather all the kids and get some photos of the siblings together. In this case, that didn’t work. So I went to my next “grouping” which is to break the kids up and photograph each one individually.
One important thing to note, if you book with me, for any kind of session, event or wedding, is that your gallery belongs to you. You can submit any photo you wish, to anyone for publication. That’s what this mama did and I’m so thankful. Because of her, I’ll get the honor of being published in another magazine.
If you like what you see, I invite you to try my services. I’d love to serve you and meet your family. Here is the link for future mini sessions. Keep an eye on this link. I’ll add more throughout the year. Hope to see you soon. https://book.usesession.com/i/2vq1XcoTE
